Job Summary:

Provides supportive care to Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse or ED Provider. Performs approved procedures per policy. Performs a variety of routine, age-specific patient care tasks to assist medical personnel in the examination, treatment, and care of ED/UCC patients. Provides supportive patient care that involves direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice or licensure. Assists in the flow of patients through the Emergency Department including admission and discharge procedures. Works collaboratively with the Nurse and ED Provider to set up and assist with patient procedures and monitoring. Assists with the initiation of Provider Orders in a timely manner. Assists with transporting patients to diagnostic departments and getting specimens to the lab. Maintains cleanliness of patient areas and assists with keeping treatment areas stocked with supplies. Contributes to safe and efficient care of patients. Maintains certification and licensure requirements.

Essential Qualifications:  EMT -I (Preferred) EMT or LNA Current BLS certification. Previous medical background or experience preferred either in the hospital or in the field. Ability to read, spell, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers. Able to effectively present information to other healthcare team members.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems in an objective manner, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
