Job Summary:

The Nocturnist provides inpatient care from admission through discharge for patients of Weeks Medical Center. The Nocturnist works collaboratively with the Hospitalist to manage the entire treatment process for patients who have been admitted to our facility by creating and recommending treatment plans, recording medical histories, and updating information for existing patient records with the most recent findings.

Nocturnist will be responsible for taking community call while on shift. This requires knowledge and experience with Family Practice Medicine from pediatric to geriatric.

  • schedule can be either bi-weekly with 3:4 nights, or can be 7 on:7 off
  • EMR is Meditech Expanse, Dragon
  • Supported by a strong, collaborative team of MAs, RNs, LPNs, LNA Case Manager, etc
  • 10 pts/day in MedSurg on average, <1 pt/day in ICU, 2% child/98% adult
  • 3 ICU beds; ICU: 2 (daily census)
  • Total # of Beds: 25
  • Admissions: 2-5 new admits/consults per shift.
  • Inpatient: 8-12 (daily visits or discharge): Observation, inpatient, and SNF/swing status.
  • Patient mix: 90% adults, 10% peds. 85% Medicine, 14% Surgery, 1% Trauma
  • Additional support by House Coordinator, Case Management, and On-Call Staff
  • Performs focused or comprehensive physical examinations as appropriate. Ensures patients are assigned the proper status within the hospital (e.g., treatment, observation, inpatient, ICF, SNF).
  • EKG interpretation, initial CXE interpretation, intubation, vent management
  • ED runs codes 

Essential Qualifications: 

 Board certified and 2 years experience in a hospital setting required. Active and unrestricted license in New Hampshire or able to obtain.  ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association required.
