Job Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family-centered care in the operating room. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Remains constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Essential Qualifications: Graduate of a surgical technology program accredited through ARC/STA (Accreditation Review Committee/Education in Surgical Technology and BLS certificate required.  Individuals trained in the armed forces of the United States will be considered. Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within one year of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment. Two years of recent scrubbing experience in an acute-care facility preferred.  Physically demanding, high-stress environment with the potential for exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions. Pushing and pulling heavy objects.  Must be able to utilize the full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients. Manual and finger dexterity Hand/eye coordination. Standing/walking for extensive periods of time. Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
