Department Manager - Oncology
The Department Manager - Oncology is responsible for and accountable to manage all patient care and services within the Oncology Department. The Department Manager - Oncology oversees the scheduling, assignments, and work of all staff members within Oncology. She/he directs and coordinates patient care while collaborating with physicians, oncology team members, insurance companies, social services, and ancillary/support services. The Department Manager - Oncology provides direct patient care in compliance with hospital policies, the Oncology Nursing Society’s Chemotherapy, and Biotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice, and the policies and procedures of the Infusion Nurses Society. She/he mentors staff and conducts performance reviews. The Department Manager - Oncology must possess knowledge of the new Federal Privacy Rules (HIPPA). In addition, the Department Manager - Oncology has knowledge of HCFA standards specific to Critical Access Hospitals, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, and the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
Essential Requirements: A degree in business management or administration with previous management or supervisory experience in healthcare is preferred. Proficient computer skills (EMR, timekeeping) and proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) are required. Clinical license/certification within the State of NH may be required and five (5) years of current acute oncology/chemotherapy clinical experience, preferably in a fast-paced outpatient setting Basic Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Course is required. BLS, ACLS course completion, and ONS certification are required. Must have proficient IV Skills with knowledge and skill with Central Venous Catheters.
