POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Financial Quality Assurance is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial operations within the organization. This position involves developing, implementing, and overseeing audit strategies and quality assurance measures to safeguard financial processes and reporting. The Director will work closely within the finance department to identify opportunities for improvement, and work with the team to establish best practices while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred.
Certification:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification, highly preferred.
- Additional certifications in quality assurance or financial management (e.g., CQA, CGFM) are advantageous.
Licensure:
- Accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date (courses available upon hire).
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and auditing standards.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced MS Excel.
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial management or auditing roles.
- At least 5 years of experience in a quality assurance or compliance leadership position.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or similar highly regulated industry is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial quality assurance program to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Design and oversee internal audit processes to evaluate the effectiveness of financial controls and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Establish processes, and monitor for effectiveness, that ensure financial data, transactions and processes are accurate, reliable and compliant with internal P&Ps and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and recommend strategic solutions.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures that enhance organizational performance and compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial audits and coordinate responses to findings with management.
- Prepare and present detailed financial quality assurance reports to executive leadership, highlighting key metrics, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct staff training programs to promote awareness and understanding of processes established for compliance and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels between the finance department and other organizational units.
- Lead the investigation of financial discrepancies and irregularities, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor industry developments and best practices in financial quality assurance and integrate relevant changes into the organization’s practices.
- Develop and manage a team of quality assurance professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence.
- Coordinate with external auditors, the Director of Accounting and on regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
- Implement and oversee risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
- Drive the strategic planning process for the finance department, contributing to long-term organizational goals.
