Job Summary:

The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for patient care in the ED. The ED RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of ED patients. The ED RN directs and coordinates patient care while collaborating with physicians, ED staff members, and ancillary/support services. The ED RN provides care in compliance with hospital policies and the national Emergency Nurses Association Core Curriculum (ENA) and Standards of Practice.  In addition, the ED RN possesses knowledge of CMS (HCFA) standards specific to Critical Access Hospitals State of New Hampshire, State Department of Health guidelines, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, and the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice. The ED RN with on-the-job training will work as the second RN until competencies are complete. The ED RN works closely with ED medical staff, general Medical Staff, RN Preceptor, Paramedics, and ED Technicians, as well as, clinical and support staff from all disciplines. The ED Intern RN demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues, providers, patients, families, and the general public.
