POSITION SUMMARY:
North Country Healthcare (NCH) is seeking a dedicated Financial Assistant to support the finance department in its mission to provide efficient and effective financial services. The successful candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented individual eager to contribute to the day-to-day functions of finance. This role includes assisting with data collection/entry, invoicing, reconciliations, and general administrative support. The Financial Assistant will work closely with various leaders across the organization to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in business or accounting is strongly preferred.
Certification:
- Not required, but relevant certifications in accounting or finance are a plus.
Licensure:
- Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data management, and formatting.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Work Experience:
- Previous experience in healthcare or financial roles strongly preferred.
- Experience with accounts payable and general accounting practices is advantageous.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in data collection and entry to maintain accurate financial records.
- Process invoices and support accounts payable functions to ensure timely payments.
- Conduct reconciliations of bank statements and track financial transactions.
- Compile mandatory reports for external agencies in compliance with regulations.
- Organize and maintain financial records and documentation for easy accessibility.
- Support the preparation of routine financial reports for management review.
- Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve billing discrepancies or payment issues.
- Learn and apply accounting principles under the mentorship of senior team members.
- Foster positive relationships with operational leaders to enhance communication and support.
- Standardize accounts payable functions across the organization for consistency and efficiency.
- Review and maintain vendor dictionaries for Accounts Payable/Materials Management.
- Participate in training sessions to develop skills and knowledge related to financial tasks.
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as required.
- Assist in the preparation of financial audits by ensuring all records are up to date and accurate.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance team to promote operational excellence.
