POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under the supervision of the Medical Practice Supervisor, the Medical Assistant Apprentice, will participate in a formal on-the-job training program with the goal of completing the classroom and hands on clinical experience, meeting eligibility to successfully complete the Certified Clinical medical Assistant (CCMA) exam from the National Health Career Association. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Education: 

  • High Schol Diploma or GED Required.  

Licensure: 

  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date. 

 

Skills: 

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required 
  • Congenial, pleasant, and friendly disposition is required, as this position involves continuous contact with the public, frequently when patients do not feel well or are upset.  
  • Ability to interact with physicians and other healthcare practitioners in a helpful, courteous manner is an asset.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment is preferred 
  • Familiarity with computer applications is required 
  • Must have technical aptitude and a willingness to learn software applications. 

 

Work Experience:  

  • Prior healthcare experience a plus

  • Assists with procedures and clinical tasks. 
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments. 
  • Performs treatments under supervision. 
  • Coordinates referrals and outpatient appointments. 

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
