Job Summary:

The NCH Clinical Education Director will provide leadership and clinical resources to the staff and instructors of NCH Education Department, also known as Northwoods Center for Continuing Education (NCCE). The NCH Clinical Education Director will promote, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs offered throughout the North Country Healthcare system. He/she will develop appropriate learning content for the system and community at large. He/she will coordinate with local educators throughout the organization. The NCH Clinical Education Director will develop a comprehensive budget that addresses the needs of all stakeholders. He/she will manage and implement projects as assigned. He/she works closely with medical staff, clinical staff, support staff, local clinical educators, and more specifically the administrative team of Weeks Medical Center. The NCH Clinical Education Director is directly accountable to the Vice President of Patient Care Services at Weeks Medical Center.

Essential Job Functions:

  • General office functions: Email, scheduling, telephone, customer service, etc.
  • Management of regional simulation and education equipment; customize simulation development and implementation; produce education programs for clinical staff utilizing the Simulation Lab.
  • Directs the data collection and analyzes for annual Needs Assessment Survey with Directors, clinical management staff and stakeholders at multiple North Country Healthcare organizations to determine educational needs and presents achievements and develop strategic plans with CNO / VP no less than quarterly.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders inside and outside NCH to formulate education plans based upon identified learning needs and develops the goals of the department to best serve the goals of the NCH system.
  • Develop the budget for effective use of Department resources.
  • Supervise clinical and non-clinical staff, act as lead coordinator and visible presence for NCH local educators.
  • Evaluates clinical education programs provided at Northwoods Center for Continuing Education by self and others and recommends or makes changes as indicated to improve program outcomes; develops educational programs for use inside and outside of the North Country Healthcare system.
  • Develop a system annual education calendar and staff development curriculum for facility educators; develop and assign (or direct others to assign) courses within the system Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Develops EMS continuing education, LPN IV Courses, TNCC, ENPC, ACLS, PALS, and NRP courses for all NCH member agencies who require certification; cultivate a consistent supply of instructors for all clinical content; supervision of the AHA Training Center; supervision of instructors for local EMT/Paramedics.Develops training workshops for employees who function as preceptors for new employees and internal transfer employees.
  • Establishes and updates CQI programs, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates adaptability with changing conditions, while continuing to perform to the best of one's ability and meets established deadlines and maintains a high degree of accountability for outcomes, functions as a resource person and role model for staff.
  • Maintains all required records in an organized fashion, review and update Staff d evelopment and Education policies annually.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the VP, Patient Care Services.
  • Manages education department-based resource contracts, including the LMS.
Essential Qualifications: 
  • BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification(s):
  • Clinical license / certification within State of NH required.
  • Valid State issued driver's license required
  • American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, and BLS instructor certifications required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC and ENPC instructor certification required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire. TNCC and ENPC director status preferred.
  • MOAB instructor certification preferred.
  • LPN IV Instructor certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.


  • Proficient computer skills required (EMR, Kronos timekeeping).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel).
  • Proficient with LMS Management, previous experience with HealthStream LMS preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

Work Experience:

  • Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior healthcare experience required.
  • Prior EMS experience preferred.
  • 5 years teaching or related experience required.
  • Project Management experience preferred
