POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Clinical Informatics Director is responsible for the oversight, management, and optimization of clinical computer systems, with a primary focus on Meditech Expanse and other integrated clinical applications. This role ensures that clinical systems function efficiently, securely, and in alignment with patient care workflows and regulatory requirements. The Director serves as the key liaison between IT, clinical leadership, and end-users, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability between clinical systems to support patient care and operational efficiency. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered. 

??Licensure:? 

  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date. 

Skills: 

  • Clinical Systems Management - Expertise in supporting and optimizing Meditech Expanse and other clinical software solutions. 
  • System Integration & Interoperability - Strong understanding of HL7, FHIR, APIs, and clinical data exchange between systems. 
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) Optimization - Ability to enhance Meditech Expanse workflows to improve usability and provider efficiency. 
  • Healthcare IT Standards & Compliance - Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and CMS. 
  • Clinical Workflow Analysis - Ability to collaborate with providers and clinical teams to optimize system functionality. 
  • IT Governance & Change Management - Experience leading governance structures for clinical IT changes and enhancements. 
  • Incident Resolution & Troubleshooting - Skilled in managing clinical system issues, vendor escalations, and downtime mitigation. 
  • Data Integrity & Reporting - Experience in clinical data management, reporting tools, and analytics to support quality initiatives. 
  • Training & End-User Support - Ability to develop training programs to improve adoption and effectiveness of clinical systems. 
  • Collaboration & Leadership - Effective communicator with experience working with cross-functional clinical and IT teams. 

 

??Work Experience:? 

  • 5+ years in IT support, service management, or related roles with leadership experience. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Oversee Meditech Expanse and other clinical applications, ensuring performance, security, and seamless functionality. 
  • Lead clinical system integrations, ensuring interoperability between Meditech and other systems such as PACS, LIS, Pharmacy, and ADT solutions. 
  • Work closely with clinical leadership, physicians, and nurses to optimize system functionality for patient care. 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot clinical system issues, working with vendors to ensure timely resolution and minimal impact on operations. 
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other regulatory bodies, ensuring system security and proper data governance. 
  • Manage clinical data exchanges, ensuring the integrity and reliability of patient information across systems. 
  • Oversee system upgrades, patches, and maintenance, working with vendors and internal IT teams to ensure smooth transitions. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical informatics and digital transformation initiatives. 
  • Partner with Network & Systems teams to ensure infrastructure stability and high availability of clinical applications. 
  • Provide training and support for clinical users, ensuring optimal adoption and efficiency of EHR and related systems. 
  • Develop and manage KPIs and performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of clinical IT systems and support services. 
  • Stay up to date on emerging clinical technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
