SUMMARY The Network Engineer role is to ensure stability and integrity of data, voice, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. The Network Engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This includes checking logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating components and features, auditing, and troubleshooting. This position requires hands-on technical expertise with shared responsibility for the design, configuration, build and management of the network infrastructure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Monitoring network performance and ensuring system availability and reliability
- Configuring and installing routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, concentrators and QoS policies.
- Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including firmware updates, service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Responsible for the implementation of approved security technologies that align with
technical design standards/architecture, business plans and long-term strategy. - Makes recommendations to improve operational processes relative to network efficiency and
effectiveness; provides input and organizational context to major architectural designs to ensure security through consistency, maintainability, and flexibility with respect to overall system, technical and product architecture within a domain or portfolio. - Guides the development of systems, technical, and product
standards based on long range plans and vision. In coordination with system engineers and administrators, researches and makes recommendations relative to new technologies. - Deliver artifacts, technical alternative documents and architectural design that meet
business requirements; oversees design reviews and frameworks. - Plans and manages execution of architecture migrations. Maintains strategic
partnerships between vendors, business partners and IT. - Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of secure system
implementation, upgrades, or support issues. - Day to day operational tasks as assigned.
