POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position offers a unique opportunity for new graduate nurses to transition into professional practice through comprehensive training, individual preceptorships, and simulation experiences. The Registered Nurse - New Graduate will engage in a structured orientation and mentorship program, ensuring the development of critical clinical skills and professional confidence. This position prepares the new graduate to provide high-quality patient care while gaining experience in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role not only provides an avenue for new graduates to develop a strong foundation in nursing practice but also supports career advancement through structured learning and professional development opportunities. As a Registered Nurse - New Graduate, you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for a thriving career in nursing.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

 

Licensure:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain an RN license in the practicing state
  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer and medical record-keeping software.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to varied healthcare environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

 

Work Experience:

  • This position is designed for new graduates; prior clinical experience may include internships or clinical rotations during nursing education.

Additional Expectations:

  • Employment contingent upon passing NCLEX within 6 months of hire date.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Participate in a formal orientation program, including designated hours for hands-on training and simulation sessions.

2. Deliver patient care under the supervision of experienced nurses while adhering to established protocols and procedures.

3. Engage in simulation training to develop and refine clinical and decision-making skills in a controlled environment.

4. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to create and implement patient care plans.

5. Monitor and record patients' vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.

6. Educate patients and families on health conditions, post-treatment care, and preventive strategies.

7. Assist with procedures and the management of medical equipment as required.

8. Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic medical records.

9. Reflect on practice and receive feedback from mentors and preceptors to enhance professional growth.

10. Attend workshops, seminars, and other educational opportunities to continue professional development.

11. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards of nursing practice.

12. Respond to patient requests and concerns with empathy, providing a high level of customer service.

13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.

14. Develop leadership and teamwork skills while gaining exposure to different nursing roles and specialties.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
