Patient Access Supervisor
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Works closely with the Patient Access Manager to coordinate planning and directing of the Patient Access Department. Responsible for team leadership, assuring all staff is fully trained, and the department is staffed appropriately to support the department and patient needs. Demonstrates the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. Completes other tasks as assigned by manager.

Education- Associates degree preferred
Licensure- Not required
Certifications- Industry Certification relevant to Patient Access
Skills
- Must possess strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to exercise initiative and judgement in effective planning and organizing. Must also be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written with all levels of the organization and to use independent judgement to manage and impart confidential information.
- Must have excellent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Work Experience Prior supervisory experience along with 3+ years of healthcare or related experience is strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the day-to-day direction and supervision of the Patient Access staff.
- Handles staff issues, investigating and documenting findings, addressing as appropriate, in coordination with the department manager.
- Works with department manager to complete performance appraisals, counseling and imposing disciplinary sanctions as outlined in North Country Healthcare (NCH) policy.
- Responsible for helping with new employee orientation and training, as well as documentation of same.
- Routinely helps with planning and participates in staff meetings.
- Trains existing staff on new systems and processes as needed.
- Manages time and attendance functions to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Helps ensure departmental policies are accurate and up to date as well as developing new policies and procedures as needed.
- Monitors registration quality, identifying areas of training needs and improve efficiencies.
- Ensures current competency in Patient Access management concepts by participating in relevant professional associations such as NAHAM or HFMA.
- Maintains understanding of processes for authorization, scheduling, pre-registration, registration, and insurance verification.
- Assumes on-call assignments evenings, holidays, and weekends as necessary.

- Performs additional duties as assigned.

This orientation provides essential training, compliance information, and an introduction to our organizational culture to ensure a smooth and successful transition into your role. Attendance on all three days is required for onboarding completion.
Additionally, if Weeks Medical Center is not your designated home base, you will be eligible for travel reimbursement in accordance with our standard travel policy.
