Role: Primary Care Physician and Teaching Residents (approximately 60:40 mix)

Job Description:

 

North Country Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) with a passion for teaching to join Weeks Medical Center, part of North Country Healthcare, in northern New Hampshire.  

 

This unique opportunity combines approximately 60% outpatient patient care and 40% resident education as we launch the White Mountains Medical Education Consortium (WMMEC) Primary Care Residency Program.

 

Build your own patient panel while helping shape the next generation of physicians in a supportive, rural learning environment. As a core faculty physician, you will provide comprehensive primary care, mentor residents in both the clinic and community setting, and contribute to the development of an innovative residency program focused on high-quality, patient-centered care. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact—not only on your patients, but also on the future of rural healthcare.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive primary care, including exams, diagnosis, treatment, and personalized care planning
  • Manage both acute concerns and chronic conditions with appropriate follow-up and monitoring
  • Deliver preventive care such as immunizations, health screenings, and annual wellness visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing; follow up on results and adjust care plans as needed
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in alignment with evidence-based best practices
  • Educate patients and families on disease prevention, lifestyle changes, and long-term health management
  • Coordinate care with specialists and other providers to ensure seamless patient care
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to promote continuity, quality, and patient-centered care
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws and policies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic call rotation

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical College with a Medical Degree
  • Successful completion of a ACGME residency program with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • NH medical license or ability to obtain
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
