Radiology Coordinator (Part Time)
Job Summary
Primary responsibilities involve the provision of all clerical/secretarial functions in the Radiology Department.
Answers and responds to all incoming calls within scope of authority. Directs all other calls to appropriate professional staff. Receives orders and schedules patient appointments using Meditech. Obtains pertinent diagnosis for the study to be performed. Informs patients and providers of exams that did not meet medical necessity requirements at the time of scheduling. Completes screening forms with patients. Processes Advanced Beneficiary Notices in a timely fashion. Sends orders to referrals desk for insurance check and prior authorizations. Maintain and update information in Meditech.
Greets and receives patients upon arrival to the department. Creates a positive first impression for the department. Verifies that information in Meditech matches the Outpatient requisition.
Processes outside imaging requests according to department policy. Creates CDs of patient exams when indicated.
Distributes original requisitions to the Health Information Management Department in a timely manner. Handles various other documents encountered during the performance of duty appropriately.
Organizes necessary paperwork for future days’ exams. Provides schedules and orders to mobile imaging staff one day prior to scheduled appointments.
Conducts patient reminder calls for next day appointments, order entry tasks, assist protocoling and creating ARMs.
Maintains open communication between authorization and customer service departments to ensure efficient patient care.
Manages time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met and that personal priorities support organizational objectives.
Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of clerical supplies within the department. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
May be required to perform additional duties upon request. Completes all assignments in a timely manner.
Adheres to all pertinent Hospital and departmental policies. Promotes and maintains an environment which is in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, accrediting agencies, and as delineated in the Hospital Corporate Compliance Program. Actively participates in departmental/Hospital-wide performance improvement activities.
Actively participates in departmental/Hospital wide safety programs and demonstrates an understanding of safety issues and practices in all aspects of work.
Maintains utmost confidentiality in all aspects of duties.

This position does not involve direct or potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
Education, Experience and Requirements
High school graduate with prior clerical/secretarial experience required. Typing/word processing skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Familiarity with Meditech Health Information System preferred. Prior experience in healthcare preferred.
Congenial and pleasant disposition is a plus as this position requires a great deal of contact with the public.
Physical Demands
Lifting up to 20 pounds with frequent carrying of objects up to ten pounds. This position requires manual dexterity and the ability to sit for prolonged periods. Working with a computer is required. Seeing, hearing, talking, reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, pulling, and handling.
