POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rehabilitation Services Coordinator is responsible for reception, clerical and other duties within the Rehabilitation Department. The Rehabilitation Services Coordinator works closely with the Rehabilitation Services therapists, Respiratory therapists and Cardiology Department to ensure proper patient handling. The Rehabilitation Services Coordinator is one of the first point of contact is therefore responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, family members, visitors, physicians and all other medical professionals.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Graduate required.
- Post-high school secretarial courses are preferred.
Licensure:
- Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.
Skills:
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Word.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential materials with maturity and discretion.
- A caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and families.
Work Experience:
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting or similar role is advantageous.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform clerical duties demonstrating current competence and excellence.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing communications for Rehabilitation Services professionally and courteously.
- Manage scheduling, referral info, and track patient visits and updates.
- Verify, obtain, and document payer benefits, eligibility, and necessary authorizations.
- Accurately register patients and maintain up-to-date demographic and insurance information.
- Ensure timely and precise charge posting and payment processing.
- Collaborate with the department to develop programs and projects.
- Assist with the orientation of volunteers, students, and new employees.
- Attend departmental meetings, take accurate minutes, and distribute them in a timely manner.
- Participate in other tasks as assigned to support departmental operations.
