POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rehab Unit Aide supports the rehabilitation staff by handling routine tasks, preparing for patient services, and assisting therapists according to professional standards. This role alleviates the workload of the Rehab team, allowing therapists to focus on patient care, referrals, and evaluations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Graduate (or anticipating graduation in 30 days or less ) or General Equivalence Diploma
- preferred completion of previous high school level or college level observation in a rehabilitation department
Certification/Licensure:
- Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.
Skills:

- Communication skills both written and oral
Work Experience:
- Experience in a medical facility, reception, or billing/insurance is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow the work schedule to complete assigned tasks.
- Comply with established policies and procedures.
- Notify the facility promptly if late or absent.
- Assist with errands and transport supplies.
- Cooperate with inter-departmental staff to maintain services.
- Maintain a warm, positive environment throughout the unit.
- Participate in chart rounding after training.
- Assist with changing linens and cleaning treatment areas.
- Greet and escort patients as necessary.
- Report any accidents/incidents immediately.
- Keep floors clean and report spills promptly.
- Manage supplies, including checking expiration dates.
- Operate equipment safely and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and security of health information.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
