Job Summary:

The scheduler assumes the day-to-day responsibility for coordinating clinicians time and patient needs.  the Scheduler is responsible for the coordination of client visits, maintenance and upkeep of scheduling records and the accurate and timely communication of scheduling changes between offices and medical field staff.  Scheduler reports to the Director of Clinical Support.

Essential Qualifications:  Excellent communication and computer skills are required. Healthcare experience preferred. Must be willing to learn and apply new skills.  Access to operable, insured motor vehicle and valid driver's license with acceptable record of safe driving practices required.


  • Coordinates the scheduling of field staff employees. Brings any scheduling problems to the Supervisor’s attention immediately.
  • Efficiently uses the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to schedule appropriately skilled persons for each visit.
  • Communicates with clients and staff regarding scheduling needs and general communication needs.
  • Communicates with clients/families as needed in a professional manner.
  • Documents and reports to the Director of Hospice and Palliative Care and/or supervising nurse when there is a change in client status, changes in service requirements, change in employee assigned to case, and reports any unsatisfactory performance.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Uses equipment and supplies in an appropriate and cost effective manner.
  • Acknowledges that all information related to employees, clients and their families, and NCHHHA business practices is confidential.
  • Practices proper body mechanics and observes safety measures.
  • Adheres to all safety policies including reporting/ removing hazards immediately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with infection control policies.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction.
  • Works cooperatively with other NCHHHA personnel.
  • Complies with NCHHHA’s Standard of Conduct.
  • Required completion of time sheets and other records in accordance with agency policy and State and Federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
