Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Accounting Director, the Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the financial management and administration of the accounting functions of NCH and its affiliated entities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform general accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Calculate and post journal entries related to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, intercompany charges, and more.
  • Complete month-end close, prepare financial reporting workbooks, analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Work with the accounting team to finalize monthly and annual financial statements. Review for accuracy, trends, and special circumstances. Provide follow-up as necessary.
  • Complete bank statement reconciliations, including all journal entries.
  • Maintain detailed support schedules in Excel for monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analyses.
  • Assist in year-end audit, as well as preparation of Form 990, cost report, annual budget.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a major in accounting or business is required.
  • CPA certification and/or a Master’s Degree is desirable.
  • Experience directly related to healthcare accounting is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills and use of spreadsheet software are required.
  • Experience with Meditech software is desired.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with clinical, administrative, and financial staff are essential.
  • A high degree of self-direction, organizational skills, and the ability to work unsupervised are also essential.
  • A willingness and ability to initiate and implement change are desirable.
