JOB SUMMARY
- Works under the direction of the House Supervisors and RN Nurse Manager.
- LNA reports directly to the primary nurse regarding the day-to-day job expectations, duties, and accountability.
- Assists RN/LPN in providing safe delivery of age specific and effective patient care.
- Works on the Medical/Surgical or in the Emergency Department and assists in other areas as assigned.
- Only performs tasks that are specific to the role of an LNA.?

Licenses/Certifications
- Maintains current licensure in the State of New Hampshire as a Nursing Assistant.
- Maintains current active BLS certification.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES ?
- Incorporates appropriate skills in all interactions and delivery of care relative to ADL’s, safety and protection, patient care skills, evaluation and equipment use/management.
- Communicates with patients, primary nurse, other patient care team members and management in an accurate, timely manner. Talks with, listens to patient/team members; reports pertinent, concise information; completes timely and accurate charting; protects confidentiality of patients/colleagues.
- Develops and maintains human care relationships. Demonstrates caring and concern for patients, families and colleagues; assists with the provision of care based on philosophical, moral and ethical concepts; advocates for the needs/values of the patient; adapts the delivery and management of health care for diverse populations and environments; assists colleagues with care delivery; refers all concerns/issues to appropriate resource; protects patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
- Manages self and resources effectively organizes and prioritizes multitask workload effectively and appropriately; accepts changes in assignment/expectations; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean, orderly environment of care; applies personal work organizational skills; interacts with others in a professional manner; manages conflict with professionalism; ensures direct, immediate communication; gives feedback appropriately, verbalizes scope of practice for self and others.
- Deliver care with a focus on health promotion. Provides information to patient; assess for barriers to learning; uses colleagues as a learning resource; discusses questions/issues with colleagues.
- Meets UCVH standards related to telephone etiquette, customer service, attendance, punctuality, inter/intra department relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, and patient/provider rights.
- The LNA role holds the primary responsibility to answer patient call bells. The minimum expectation is that all bells are answered promptly utilizing the phrase "How can I help you?"
- The LNA must be competent and comfortable to meet the ADL needs for many patients/residents while providing support to all other patients/residents in facility.
- Care for multiple patients/residents in the facility as assigned by RN House Supervisor/RN Nurse Manager or at the request of the primary nurse.
- Observe patients/resident rights.
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living:
- LNA to check each patient room for adequate linens and bath items. LNA not to over stock patient room with linens, while using resources prudently.
- Oral hygiene is to be performed on patients/residents twice a day (every am & every pm). If a patient/resident is competent & capable of self-care the LNA is to offer care, in lieu of performing care. Oral care is clearly defined as natural teeth are brushed using toothpaste & toothbrush. Dentures are to be removed from mouth, brushed, and rinsed before being returned to patients/residents mouth.
- Feeding: Pass and pick-up food trays.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
