Job Description

The Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with complex wound conditions, utilizing established protocols and procedures. The RN will deliver direct patient care, manage cases, and educate patients and caregivers on effective wound care management. Acting as a patient advocate, the RN collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure the efficient delivery of services and optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, the RN will participate in quality improvement initiatives and demonstrate clinical competence in wound care treatments and procedures.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Additional training or coursework in wound care is highly desirable

 

Certification:

  • Wound Care Certification (e.g., WCC, CWON, or similar) preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year after hire.

Licensure:

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire.
  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and procedural skills in wound care management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to educate and advocate for patients.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the capacity to manage a diverse patient load.
  • Proficiency in analyzing professional literature and adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Competent in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust to varying schedules and work under pressure.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in wound care or a related field.
  • Experience with case management and patient education is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting dealing with wound care/documentation software preferred.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides direct patient care and case management according to Wound Care Center protocols.
  2. Demonstrates clinical competence in procedural skills and patient treatments.
  3. Educates patients and caregivers on wound care management.
  4. Acts as a patient advocate, coordinating patient care effectively.
  5. Delivers efficient care with guidance from wound care center providers.
  6. Manages multiple patients simultaneously, maintaining energy and organization.
  7. Collaborates with Medical Directors, healthcare providers, and Wound Care Center staff.
  8. Analyzes professional literature and adheres to technical procedures and regulations.
  9. Presents information effectively and responds to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  10. Adjusts work hours to support the wound care center as needed.
  11. Meets deadlines, upholding accountability for outcomes.
  12. Performs Hyperbaric Oxygen RN duties.
  13. Co-leads scheduling, staff education, clinical rounding, and meetings.
  14. Oversees clinical policy management, audit reporting, and safety compliance.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs additional duties as assigned.
